About us

We run heritage breed English Large Black and Wessex Saddleback – cross breeding now with Duroc to cut the fat and hair down – pigs just north of Tenterfield in a beautiful spot at Boonoo Boonoo, located on the Boonoo Boonoo River, surrounded by National Parks.

The old style heritage breed of pig has a superior fat that has that beautiful melt in the mouth taste in smallgoods especially. If your clientele appreciates fine quality produce then our pork is a must try. The pigs are being fed on Country Heritage Feeds (with Biochar); they love the pastures, roots of the blady grass, dandelions, plantains and native turnips.

The name “Le Bon Terroir D’Emj” french for The Good Earth of Emily Jane which is my name and the terrain on the farm is very good with a mix of decomposed granite that is mineral rich, high in iron and full of silica.

We use a system of paddock rotation with the pigs to fertilize the paddocks and also keep the pig’s parasite burden down. We do regular parasite tests, and they’ve all come back clear. The male pigs are kept completely separate from any females so no taint is detected.
